Q&A: Lycia Faith

Why did you first decide to start posting on Vine?
At first I started just putting up silly little videos of me lip-syncing to my favorite songs kind of like how everyone does now on snapchat. I was bored and I didn’t really plan to go anywhere with it. It was just for fun and my own personal entertainment.

What was your reaction to gaining a large amount of supporters on Vine?
At first it was weird! I didn’t know it would mean anything for the future. In the moment it just felt really cool to make something that people liked and that people appreciated enough to follow me.

You were featured in the Tre Coast song “Don’t Talk to me”. What was that like?
It was a fun experience. Not the type of music I would have envisioned me making, but I had a lot of fun being a part of that project and I’m looking forward to working on more music now.

How would you describe your YouTube video style?
My channel has a variety of content. I’ve made a few makeup tutorials but I wouldn’t call myself a beauty guru. I do a lot of vlog style videos, but I also wouldn’t consider myself a vlogger. So, most of my videos are just comedic and made to make you laugh or relate.

How did you decide your YouTube video style?
The first YouTuber I would say that really rubbed off on me was Jenna Marbles. She has such a unique way of making people laugh just by being creative and imaginative and being a positive kind happy person. Which is what I wanted to do with my channel. From making people laugh just from watching a 3 minute long video of me doing a ridiculous challenge, or showing my viewers my favorite makeup products because they need some guidance on what foundation or concealer to buy.

What’s a day in your life like?
Well, I’m living in Los Angeles now, so I get to spend a lot of time with friends and work on some amazing project with some amazing people. Every day is a bit different, but for the most part I always try to accomplish something to better my career and someway to give back.

Describe yourself in one word.

What do you hope your future looks like?
Bright with lots of success!

Any upcoming projects you can tell us about?
I am working on new projects everyday. Some of which will come to fruition and some that will probably fall by the wayside. My music projects area huge priority for me, but I’m I’m also working on creating some new video content that I think my audience will be really excited about.

What’s it like being in the YouTube/Vine community?
It’s great being in the digital community! It’s just an amazing group of people who are looking to make content to entertain their audiences and to continue to grow as people. I have made some of my best friends in this space, and its so great to watch people that I genuinely love and respect grow over the years. Now people are really started to branch out their careers and I can’t wait to see where this continues to go.

What are you most excited for in 2016?

I’m excited to continue growing and to continue learning how I can be impactful. Sometimes I feel like I can be underestimated and I’m really trying to show what I’m made of this year.
